About the Role
Spencer Clarke Group is working with a range of secondary schools across Wigan and the surrounding areas to recruit Cover Supervisors for September.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set and maintaining a positive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching or further education roles.
Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor is beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidates.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Previous Cover Supervisors or school support staff
- Teaching Assistants looking to take on more classroom responsibility
- Sports coaches
- Aspiring teachers looking to gain classroom experience
- Youth workers, mentors, tutors, or anyone with experience working with children or young people in other settings
The ability to build positive relationships, communicate confidently and manage classroom behaviour is more important than direct school experience.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people, either within schools or other settings
- Confident leading groups and managing behaviour effectively
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive and reliable approach
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
