Post-16 SEND Officer

£270 per day

3-6 month initial contract

Fully remote working

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Officer to manage a caseload of young people aged 16-25 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring that provision meets identified needs and statutory requirements.

Working for our local authority client in the Midlands, the Post-16 SEND Officer will coordinate Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, leading to the creation of high quality and person centred EHCPs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working for a local authority, with a strong understanding of post-16 education, training, and pathways for young people with SEND.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Children and Families Act (2014).
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to draft clear and concise plans.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Draft, amend, and maintain EHCPs to reflect current needs, provision, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and attend annual reviews, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales.
  • Support the transition of young people with SEND into adulthood, ensuring a seamless process and the appropriate provision is in place.

Skills required:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with external partners, young people with SEND and their families.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, able to assess needs, evaluate provision, and resolve issues to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a demanding caseload, prioritise effectively, and meet statutory deadlines.
