My client are recruiting a locum Occupational Therapist for their Independent Specialist Day School in Tonbridge to cover the rest of their academic year.

The school is an independent specialist day school that meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils aged 8-16 who have a range of complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.

Key responsibilities:

• Apply your specialist knowledge and experience effectively across a variety of work practices, supported by strong theoretical understanding and hands-on expertise.
• Assess young people's motor, perceptual, and sensory integration skills, and identify how these differences affect their daily functioning and participation.
• Write clear, informative reports based on your assessments to support young people, education and care staff, and contribute to annual reviews.
• Deliver Occupational Therapy interventions based on assessments. This includes environmental adjustments, whole-school initiatives, one-to-one therapy, group sessions, and class-wide work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
• Conduct high-quality assessments and recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions tailored to the individual needs of each child or young person.

Requirements:

• A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience of working with peoplewith a range of needs including developmental trauma; neurodiversity and Special Educational Needs
