Interim Land & Property Surveyor
Location: West Midlands - Hybrid
Contract: 6 months (initially)
Our client, a local authority in the West Midlands, is seeking an experienced Interim Land & Property Surveyor to support the management of the Council's diverse commercial property portfolio and to contribute to its asset management and regeneration programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for a chartered surveyor with experience in estate management, valuation, and land transactions to make an impact across a range of projects.
Reporting to the Land & Property Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing acquisitions and disposals of land and property to support the Council's strategic goals.
- Supporting the Council's self-build initiative by acquiring suitable development sites and resolving site constraints.
- Acting as the Council's nominated property valuer, providing professional advice to internal teams and elected members.
- Supporting the delivery of the Council's Asset Management Plan and wider regeneration objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake valuations of industrial, commercial, and residential land and property.
- Manage the disposal of surplus land and buildings to generate capital receipts.
- Support land acquisitions, including under compulsory purchase powers.
- Negotiate leases, licences, wayleaves, easements, and other agreements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council's Asset Management Strategy.
- Provide Right to Buy valuations and advice as needed.
Essential
- Degree in Estate Management or related field.
- Experience in estate management and asset management.
- Proven track record in property valuation and disposal/acquisition negotiations.
- Experience managing a mixed-use commercial property portfolio.
- Strong understanding of property law, land transactions, and valuation practices.
Desirable
- Full MRICS membership (Valuation or Commercial Property Faculty) or working towards.
- RICS Registered Valuer or willing to become registered.
