  • Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent related to working with children in schools.
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 (KS2) curriculum.
  • Confidence in supporting challenging classroom environments.
  • Desirable: Experience in phonics instruction.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Class Teaching Assistant to join our team in Preston. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting teaching and learning activities within our school, primarily focusing on Key Stage 2 classes. This is a full-time position that will also involve occasional cover of classes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in implementing lesson plans and delivering engaging educational activities.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to academic and personal growth.
  • Support students with challenging behavior, utilising appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Occasionally cover classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other members of the school community.

Requirements:

  • A Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, including English, Mathematics, Science, and other subjects.
  • Ability to confidently manage and support challenging classroom dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the school environment.
  • Desirable: Previous experience or training in phonics instruction.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
