General Cover Teacher- SEMH

We are looking for a confident, adaptable, and compassionate General Cover Teacher to join a specialist setting based in Carlisle.

As a General Cover Teacher, you will play a key role in maintaining a calm, structured, and supportive environment that enables pupils to engage and succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, pre-prepared lessons across different subjects and key stages
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive and trauma-informed approaches
• Support pupils with SEMH needs to engage with learning and regulate their emotions
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles
• Build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
• Follow school policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and engagement

About You
We are seeking someone who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or has relevant teaching experience
• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (preferred)
• Is calm, resilient, and able to think on their feet
• Has strong behaviour management skills and a consistent approach
• Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
• Is flexible and confident delivering a range of subjects
• An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
