Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Customer Service Assistant for a local authority client in East London.

In this role, you will provide front-line customer service, supporting library services, learning activities, and digital engagement to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver excellent customer service by assisting, advising, and signposting customers in person, by phone, and online.
  • Support daily library operations including shelving, stock management, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
  • Help deliver events and activities for children and adults, such as storytelling sessions and learning clubs.
  • Use digital systems for membership, bookings, payments, and to support customers with online services.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience providing face-to-face customer service in a busy, public-facing environment.
  • Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and library or retail software.
  • Skilled in engaging with a diverse range of customers, including children and vulnerable adults.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organised, and work effectively as part of a team.

What's on offer:

Salary: £18ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
