Tutor Required - NE9 Area

SEMH Learner | Maths, English & Science | 2 Hours Per Day

We are seeking an experienced and resilient tutor to provide 1:1 tuition for a learner based in the NE9 area.

Hours: 2 hours per day
Duration: Until Christmas
Subjects: Maths, English and Science

About the Learner

The learner is entering Year 9 and has Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. She is currently working at approximately a target grade 4 across subjects and has experienced significant disruption to her education, resulting in limited assessment data.

She is motivated by the long-term goal of returning to mainstream education and sitting her exams. Historically, she has engaged more successfully in a 1:1 learning environment.

Additional Information

• The learner can present with challenging behaviour, including a history of verbal and physical aggression.
• A parent or designated chaperone will be present at all times during tuition sessions to provide additional support.
• The learner is currently awaiting an ASD assessment.
• Educational Psychology involvement has recently been completed, and an EHCP application has been submitted.
• Alternative provision opportunities are also being explored alongside tuition.

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
• Confidence managing and responding to challenging behaviours.
• Ability to build positive relationships and engage reluctant learners.
• Experience delivering Maths, English and Science at Key Stage 3 level.
