Cognition and Learning Outreach Worker

Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm

Are you an experienced school-based professional with a passion for supporting children's learning and academic development?
We are recruiting a Cognition and Learning Outreach Worker to support children and young people with additional learning needs across primary and secondary settings in Halifax. This is a dynamic, hybrid position combining in-school support, outreach work, and collaboration with education professionals.

The Role


You will:


  • Work directly with pupils who require support with cognition and learning across KS2 and KS3 (with some flexibility across other key stages)

  • Deliver targeted academic interventions, including 1:1 and small group support

  • Support access to the curriculum across a range of subjects

  • Adapt learning strategies to meet individual pupil needs

  • Work closely with school staff to implement effective support plans

  • Attend review and multi-agency meetings where required

  • Travel between education settings across the area

  • Work flexibly to attend meetings or undertake duties that may occasionally fall outside standard school hours

Essential Criteria


  • Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Education, or equivalent (or higher)

  • Recent experience working in a primary or secondary school setting

  • Proven experience supporting children with cognition and learning needs

  • Experience delivering 1:1 and small group interventions

  • Experience supporting curriculum-based learning across at least one key stage (KS2 or KS3 preferred)

  • Flexibility and willingness to work across different age groups and key stages

  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

About You


You'll be proactive, adaptable, and confident supporting pupils with a range of learning needs. You'll have a strong understanding of how children learn and be able to tailor your approach to support progress across the curriculum. You'll be comfortable working independently while building positive, professional relationships with staff, pupils, and families.
