Job description

~ Children & Family Support Workers ~

Spencer Clarke Group are working in partnership with Bolton Council to appoint several Children & Family Support Workers to their Childrens Social Care Services.

3 - 6 Month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Full time Positions. (36 hours)

Location – Bolton, BL3 6HU.

Rate of Pay - £13+ per hour – Higher rates can be negotiated for more experienced candidates.

About the Role;

  • Work with, identify and assess the needs of children and their families effectively utilising a number of assessment and intervention tools in line with Early Help processes and the Greater Manchester Early Years Delivery Model.
  • Act as lead professional when required and to ensure that families who have children with additional needs and disabilities receive effective support to enable them to reach their full potential.
  • Work with families to enable looked after children to experience quality contact in appropriate environments.
  • Work with vulnerable families with complex needs, providing practical support empowering them to develop their parenting skills and increase the quality of family interactions.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Contribute to protecting children and young people from danger, harm and abuse, assessing and acting upon risk and supporting children that have been abused.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports on individual children and families progress as required in collaboration with parents and carers and to occasionally provide written and verbal information to the court system.
  • Work in partnership with families in their own home, providing them with practical and personal support to enable them to function more effectively as family unit, negotiating desired outcomes and preparing programmes of activities as part of a family plan, Early Help or Early Support Plan.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with parents supporting them through group activities and to deliver a variety of evidence based parenting sessions, in line with Greater Manchester delivery models.
  • Observe, assess and enhance the development and behaviour of children, focusing on the principles of school readiness and EYFS.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain the safety and security of the working and home environment and promote health and safety by identifying and assessing the acceptability of potential hazards, agreeing and implementing risk management strategies and reviewing their outcomes with families and colleagues.
  • Work with vulnerable families who may have complex needs and those who find services hard to reach, supporting them to develop and maintain relationships in their wider social environments and working with them in times of crisis.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK. (Passport or Working Visa)

  • UK Driving License with access to a vehicle.
