Building Surveyor
Location: South West
Rate: £29.96 per hour
Contract: 6 Months
Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Building Surveyor on behalf of a local authority, with a strong damp and mould bias to support housing repairs and maintenance across occupied homes. This is a frontline, delivery-focused role where your surveys and specifications directly drive healthier, safer living conditions for residents.
You will lead and coordinate remedial works linked to damp, mould and condensation, working closely with contractors, internal teams and residents to ensure high quality outcomes delivered safely, compliantly and to programme.
Responsibilities include:
- Undertaking damp, mould and disrepair inspections, diagnosing defects and specifying remedial works
- Producing clear, evidence-led reports and recommendations
- Raising and managing repair orders, tracking progress and completing post-inspections
- Managing minor works projects from survey through to delivery, quality control and sign-off
- Coordinating contractors and ensuring delivery to programme, budget and required standards
- Ensuring health and safety compliance, including CDM considerations where applicable
- Liaising with residents, internal stakeholders and other partners, handling issues professionally
About you:
- Strong housing repairs and maintenance surveying background, ideally within social housing or local authority
- Proven experience in damp and mould diagnostics and remedial specification
- Confident managing contractors and driving works through to completion
- Good working knowledge of building pathology and housing standards (HHSRS), plus general H&S
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent in building/construction discipline)
