Adult Social Care Lawyer
Northwest Local Authority
Contract: 3-6 months - likely to be extended
Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE
Fully Remote
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a local authority in the northwest. You will manage a complex and rewarding caseload while providing high-quality legal advice to officers, elected members, and key partners. You will also act as an advocate for the Council in court, tribunals, and statutory hearings, playing a key role in protecting and supporting vulnerable individuals across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload, covering all aspects of Adult Social Care law.
- Represent the Council in courts, tribunals, inquiries, and statutory hearings.
- Provide specialist legal advice and training to clients, committees, and panels.
- Draft and negotiate complex legal documents and manage external legal support where necessary.
Key Requirements
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
- Significant post qualification experience in Adult Social Care Law including Court of Protection Welfare Applications, Ordinary Residence Disputes and Section 21A Challenges ideally within a local government setting.
- Advocacy experience before courts or tribunals
- Knowledge of Children's social care and Health law would be advantageous.
