Spencer Clarke Group Launches World Book Day Reading Challenge
12 Jan, 20261-2 minutes
We’re thrilled to launch our World Book Day Reading Challenge for primary, SEND and secondary schools.
From January 12th to March 5th 2026, we’re inviting schools across the UK to download our poster and complete as many reading challenges as possible.
Originating in 1995, World Book Day is an annual event, promoting reading amongst children and young people. Celebrated across the globe, school children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character for the day.
To help schools inspire their students, our posters consist of age-appropriate challenges, such as reading a book recommended by a friend, reading a book set in space and reading an award-winning book.
The best part is, it couldn’t be easier to get involved. Schools must simply email us for our poster or download it from our social media pages, complete as many challenges as they wish and then email us or tag us on social media to show us how they’ve taken part.
Our reading challenges can be completed at a pace which suits the school and whether they are all ticked off or just a few are completed, three schools will win 50 books each for their school library on World Book Day.
Education recruitment specialist, Jamie Heath, said, “Reading is a really important part of a young person’s social and emotional development and should be seen as an opportunity for creativity, not a chore.”
Jamie continues, “We hope our World Book Day Reading Challenge will help schools inspire their students to pick up a book and partake in some friendly competition at the same time.”
Want a poster for your school? Send an email to info@spencerclarkegroup.co.uk with the name of your school and your students' age-group to take part!
