1-2 minutes
We recently caught up with Associate Director, Thomas Humphreys, to discover what motivates him at work, what he loves about Spencer Clarke Group and how his career path led him to being Spencer Clarke Group’s very first employee.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

Due to my confidence in the vision and purpose of the business, I started on day 1 of Spencer Clarke Group opening its doors in August 2017. The years since have been fantastic and it's been great watching the business go from strength to strength.

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in Construction, Trades & Labour, Highways Infrastructure and Engineering, Planning, Development and Regeneration, Property and Asset Management and School Facilities. I personally work with many local authorities on an Interim & Executive basis - as well as many other projects!

What do you love most about what you do?

I get a great deal of job satisfaction from seeing our internal team furthering their careers and it is my job to make sure that they have all the tools they need to succeed and thrive here.

I also get great job satisfaction from helping our external candidates secure roles which they love and might not have secured without our help.

What motivates you at work?

I pride myself on developing long term relationships and it's always very satisfying to provide a great service to a long standing client.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

I would describe it as fun, hardworking and energetic.

Tell us about your career path so far.

At the age of 18, I rang my first recruitment company and asked to start on a 6-week trial period and this is where I developed my passion for the industry.

I worked there for a year alongside doing a degree in Business Management. On completion of my degree, I moved back to the North West and learnt my trade as a Divisional Manager.

From 2017, I have been the Business Manager at Spencer Clarke Group which has been a phenomenal journey.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Eccentric and hardworking!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

With family, at Anfield watching football or eating a cheeseboard!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I have visited South Africa 10 times.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

The long term goals are to carry on delivering an exemplary level of service to candidates and clients, as well as allowing those within my team to develop their career goals and aspirations.

My two disciplines have been developing incredibly well and I am excited to watch the growth and success of all teams.
