Meet the Team - Joseph Chanter

1-2 minutes

We've recently been catching up with Senior Consultant, Joseph Chanter, to find out more about his career path so far and what he enjoys doing in his spare time!

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked at Spencer Clarke Group since November 2022. As soon as I joined everybody was so welcoming and I could tell straight away what a great office environment it was. This really helped me hit the ground running!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in mainstream Primary Education recruitment across Lancashire. I specifically cover areas including Chorley, Leyland, Skelmersdale and Ormskirk.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love working in recruitment because every day is different and I really thrive in a fast-paced industry.

Building strong relationships with clients is a skill of mine and I find it really rewarding to help people find their dream role.

Education recruitment is especially rewarding as I’m able to play a small part in shaping a child’s future and providing them with high-quality teaching.

What motivates you at work?

There are many things that motivate me at work! I love being able to help others and seeing everyone succeed around me really pushes me to work to my highest standard.

Getting positive feedback from a school after I have placed someone within their team gives me great job satisfaction.

Outside of work, I’m motivated by the desire to support my family and experience new things!

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Spencer Clarke Group is completely different from other agencies as it’s very clear to see that staff wellbeing and care is a key priority.

Within the office, it feels as if you’re part of a huge family which is built upon honesty and transparency. Everyone motivates each other and everyone wants to succeed.

I couldn’t think of a more positive environment to work in!

Tell us about your career path so far.

Prior to my career in education recruitment, I spent 3 years teaching Primary Education in a variety of schools across Lancashire. I have a PGCE focussed on Primary Education from Edge Hill University.

My experience working as a teacher has given me a real insight into the education industry and I think this has benefited me since my move into recruitment.

I know exactly what it takes to be a successful teacher and this allows me to find my clients the best talent out there.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I hope that they would describe me as passionate, motivated and as having a great sense of humour (everyone in the office knows how bad my ‘dad’ jokes are).

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

In my spare time, I love working out at the gym and travelling.

Whether it’s a weekend away or a day out exploring, I really appreciate the time I get to unwind and relax!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I’m a really keen gardener. From chillies to potatoes, you name it, I can grow it!

I also love cooking and baking and I’m a massive foodie!

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

My goal at Spencer Clarke Group is to develop an inclusive desk built upon strong relationships and transparency.

I’m very ambitious and I’d love to put my teaching skills into practice in the recruitment sector by leading a successful team of my own one day.

I’d find it very rewarding to be a mentor and see individuals succeed in the world of recruitment.
