Meet the Team - Adam Zyda

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Lead Consultant, Adam Zyda, to discover what he loves about Spencer Clarke Group, how his career path led him to our door and we uncover what the future holds for him at Spencer Clarke Group.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked here since June 2019, it's gone fast but has been great!

What markets do you specialise in?

I’m a Lead Consultant in the Public Sector and I currently recruit for interim & executive appointments within SEND and the Public Sector across the South of England.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love being able to make a difference. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I helped to supply over 50 members of staff to one hospital in particular which were short staffed due to existing staff being off or isolating. I was actually recognised as an NHS hero by Bedfordshire Hospital for helping them to recruit staff in the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic; it was a great feeling but I was just doing my job!

What motivates you at work?

I am motivated by the satisfaction of helping candidates to find work. I’m also motivated by being able to help different Trusts with their staffing needs, particularly during difficult periods such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

The environment is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, everyone is really friendly and gets along with one another.

The office space is brilliant and the incentives which are on offer motivate me to work hard everyday. I have won employee of the month a few times now, winning a number of vouchers in the process.

Tell us about your career path so far

After leaving Lytham High, I studied at Blackpool Sixth Form College before heading to Bangor University to study Sport & Exercise Sciences.

After leaving University, I worked in hospitality temporarily before starting my career in recruitment. I worked in recruitment for 7 years before joining Spencer Clarke Group.

How would your colleagues describe you?

They would describe me as funny, chilled, supportive of others and by far the best at pool in the office!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

You would probably find me socialising with friends and family in a nice restaurant or pub. My favourite restaurant is a steak house in Lyme Regis - it’s unbelievable!

If I’m not there, I play football for Lytham town - incidentally Spencer Clarke Group sponsors the football kit for our team!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I used to live in Berlin because my dad was in the army for 25 years. My surname actually originates from Holland; the family name was Zyjderveld but my great great grandad shortened it to Zyda.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I’d love to expand my team even more and share my knowledge with others!

10 Quick Fire Questions!

What’s your favourite film?

Imitation Game - it’s a true story. Or The Prestige - that’s really good too!

Where’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

Thailand - it’s an amazing place. The islands, views and the people who we met were unreal!

What advice would you give to your young self?

Try not to be so outspoken by saying what you think all the time.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I met David Gest once - he came into a hotel which I worked at.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I would take a boat, some beers and a football.

Do you have any pets?

My mum has two labradors called Archie and Misty.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I don’t think so!

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

Parklife in Manchester - it was really good fun!

What animal is your spirit animal?

I would say a Turtle!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Eating crisps! Salt and vinegar flavoured discos are my favourite.
