SEMH Teaching Assistant - 1:1 & Classroom Support

08:30 - 15:30 (Monday to Friday)
£98-£106 per day - paid weekly

We are seeking a confident, resilient, and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Blackpool from January. This is a long-term opportunity working with pupils who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing both 1:1 and classroom-based support.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting pupils with challenging behaviours and emotional needs, and who can bring a calm, consistent, and authoritative presence to the classroom.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs

  • Supporting learning and behaviour within the classroom environment

  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques

  • Supporting pupils to re-engage with learning and develop positive coping skills

  • Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver consistent approaches

  • Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for pupils

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour

  • Background in support work, youth work, care work, or SEN education (highly valued)

  • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in de-escalation

  • A resilient, calm, and patient approach in challenging situations

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Personal experience with SEMH/SEND (family or informal) is welcomed and valued

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
