About the School
We are working with a specialist SEND school in Chorley that provides a supportive and nurturing learning environment for pupils with a range of additional needs. The school is committed to helping every student develop academically, socially, and emotionally through personalised support and inclusive education.
The Role
We are looking to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Unqualified SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school. This role would suit someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with additional needs.
You will work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop key life skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment.
While previous SEND experience is advantageous, we are keen to hear from applicants who have relevant personal, voluntary, care, support work, youth work, or coaching experience.
Key Duties
- Provide classroom support to pupils with a variety of SEND needs.
- Support students on an individual basis and in small group settings.
- Encourage participation, engagement, and independence throughout the school day.
- Assist with implementing individual learning and behaviour support plans.
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and communication development.
- Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.
- Assist with personal care where required.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Skills and Qualities
- A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
- Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, learning difficulties, or complex needs.
- Previous work within schools, care settings, residential services, youth organisations, sports coaching, or community groups.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health and social care, psychology, or related subjects.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
