Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEMH School

Are you calm, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with emotional and mental health needs? We are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEMH school in Bolton, supporting pupils to manage their emotions, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

In this rewarding role, you will:

• Support young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils regulate emotions and behaviour

• Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem

• Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom

• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour and support plans

• Help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (education, care, youth work, or similar settings)

• Is patient, emotionally resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure

• Has strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Understands trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support (desirable)

• Is a reliable team player with a genuine commitment to safeguarding
