Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEMH School
Location: Bolton
Are you calm, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with emotional and mental health needs? We are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEMH school in Bolton, supporting pupils to manage their emotions, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
In this rewarding role, you will:
Support young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils regulate emotions and behaviour
Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem
Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour and support plans
Help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (education, care, youth work, or similar settings)
Is patient, emotionally resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
Understands trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support (desirable)
Is a reliable team player with a genuine commitment to safeguarding
