Senior Finance Officer - Interim
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a London Local Authority to appoint an Interim Senior Finance Officer within their Finance & Assurance team.
This is a broad accountancy role supporting revenue and capital budgets, financial reporting, year-end and budget managers across the Council.

- Rate: £22 PAYE - £30 Umbrella per hour
- Contract length: 3-6 Months (ongoing)

The Role
The successful candidate will provide financial support and advice across a range of service areas, including responsibility for complex and high-risk budgets.
Key responsibilities:
- Revenue and capital budget preparation, monitoring and forecasting
- Working closely with budget managers to produce monthly financial reports
- Balance sheet monitoring, reconciliations and debt analysis
- Year-end accounts, accruals, journals and audit working papers
- Completing statutory returns and grant claims
- Producing financial reports, commentary and management information
- Extracting and analysing data from financial systems
- Supporting housing-related finance, including rents, repairs, capital expenditure and Right to Buy calculations
- Contributing to finance transformation and improvement projects
About You
You will ideally have:
- Public sector or Local Authority finance experience
- Strong budget monitoring, forecasting and year-end experience
- Experience advising non-finance budget managers
- Experience using financial systems, ideally SAP
- AAT qualification, CCAB part-qualified status or equivalent experience
