Job Title: Senior Estates Surveyor
Contract: 8-months minimum
Location: Somerset, Hybrid
Pay Rate: £450 per day
Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced Senior Estates Surveyor to join a local authority Estates Strategy and Development team managing a large and diverse public sector property portfolio.
This role plays a key part in delivering the council's transfer and disposal programme, supporting long term asset strategy and ensuring the effective use of land and property assets to meet strategic objectives.
You will manage a varied caseload of complex estates work, taking responsibility for disposals, transfers and estate transactions from instruction through to completion, working closely with internal stakeholders, legal teams and external agents.
The Role
You will oversee and deliver property disposals and transfers in compliance with statutory requirements, including Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972. The role requires strong commercial judgement, the ability to work at pace, and confidence managing transactions up to approximately £1m in value.
The portfolio includes a wide range of assets including operational and non operational buildings, land holdings and rural property. Regular site inspections across Somerset form part of the role.
About You
- Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant property discipline
- Demonstrable experience in estates management with a strong focus on disposals and transfers
- Experience handling complex property transactions within a public sector or similar environment
- Chartered or Associate membership of RICS
- Experience working within local government
