SEN/Education Lawyer

Rate: £45-£55 per hour - Negotiable DOE
Contract Length: 3-6-month initial contract

We are seeking an experienced SEN and Education Lawyer to join a dynamic local authority legal team in the midlands.

The successful candidate will advise and represent the Council in Education and SEN-related legal proceedings, including SEND Tribunals, Judicial Review matters, and school admission and exclusion appeals, while supporting senior officers and members with reports, briefings, and policy guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of Education and SEN law, including statutory assessments, EHCPs, school admissions, exclusions, and appeals.
• Represent the Council in SEND Tribunals and other legal proceedings, ensuring compliance with procedural and statutory requirements.
• Draft and review reports, correspondence, and complex legal documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

About You

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX (licensed to practice).
• Demonstrable experience in Education and SEN law, ideally within a local authority setting.
• Excellent advocacy, case management, and negotiation skills.
