We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Stoke-on-Trent from September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people aged 5-19 with a range of complex special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and associated communication, sensory and physical needs.
The school provides a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential through personalised learning, therapeutic support and a strong focus on developing independence, communication and life skills.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one and small group basis.
Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Encourage pupils' communication, independence and social development.
Support pupils with personal care where required.
Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP outcomes.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing using consistent strategies.
Assist with preparing learning resources and maintaining a safe, stimulating classroom environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to support each pupil's progress.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is patient, resilient and adaptable.
Works well as part of a team and can use their own initiative.
Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or care setting (desirable but not essential).
Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
