Are you a passionate and dedicated Qualified Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Do you have experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour or require additional support to engage in education?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Qualified Teacher to join a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Rochdale area. This rewarding opportunity involves teaching both primary and secondary-aged pupils in a supportive and structured environment, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Qualified Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Teach and support primary and secondary-aged pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and positive outcomes.
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to support individual learning needs.
- Work closely with support staff, senior leaders, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Promote pupils' emotional wellbeing, confidence, and personal development.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have experience teaching primary and/or secondary-aged pupils.
- Have experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or within a PRU, Alternative Provision, or specialist setting (desirable).
- Are confident delivering engaging lessons to pupils with a range of abilities.
- Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Are resilient, adaptable, patient, and committed to improving outcomes for young people.
- Have strong communication and organisational skills.
- Hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new DBS.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or specialist education setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
- Experience developing personalised learning plans and interventions.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
