SEMH Teaching Assistant Needed at Primary School in Ashton-in-Makerfield
Are you an experienced and compassionate teaching assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of primary school students with social, emotional, and mental health needs? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team at a in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our teachers and support staff to provide individualised care and assistance to students who require additional social, emotional, and mental health support. Your role will involve:
- Delivering one-on-one and small group interventions to help students develop essential life skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviours
- Collaborating with teachers to implement behaviour management strategies and create inclusive, nurturing learning environments
- Providing a listening ear and offering emotional support to students who are struggling with personal challenges
- Attending multidisciplinary meetings and contributing to the development of student support plans
- Assisting with the supervision of students during break times, lunch, and other unstructured activities
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with children who have SEMH needs, either in a school or other relevant setting
- A genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of young learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students and their families
- The ability to remain calm and patient when faced with challenging behaviours
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
