About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school setting in Salford. This is a full-time position starting immediately, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across EYFS, KS1, KS2 or KS3/KS4 (depending on experience and school placement).

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing educational environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.

  • Implement and support Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lesson materials and learning strategies.

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using agreed strategies.

  • Support pupils with personal care where required.

  • Assist in monitoring and recording student progress.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Support with transitions, breaktimes, and extracurricular activities where necessary.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (school, care, youth work, or similar settings).

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent - desirable but not essential).
