Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Cranborne, Dorset, UK

Overview:

Contract: Permanent, 40 hours per week, term-time only
Hourly Rate: £12.37 - £13.49
Annual Salary: £22,102.72 - £24,103.93 (actual salary)


Main Purpose of the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting and developing students to help them become successful, independent learners within a safe and caring environment. You will build professional and trusted relationships with students, prioritising their health, safety, and development. The role includes supporting teaching staff in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum both on and off site. Flexibility is important; you may work 1:1 with a student or support small groups. Positive behaviour management is a key aspect of the role.


Key Duties

  • Support and facilitate students' learning and independence

  • Contribute to planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of education programmes, plans, and reports

  • Assist in assessing, recording, and reporting on students' progress

  • Promote and encourage independence at all times

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records

  • Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed

  • Encourage the development of positive social behaviours and self-regulation

  • Perform a variety of duties as needed to support the wider team


Successful Candidate Qualities

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car

  • Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English

  • Minimum working age on site: 21

  • Positive and creative approach to meeting student needs

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

  • Competent ICT skills
