About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and nurturing school in Chorley. This role involves providing not only tailored learning support but also a high level of personal care, ensuring that pupils' physical, emotional, and educational needs are fully met.

You will play a vital role in helping children with a range of special educational needs (SEN) access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. This position is highly rewarding and would suit candidates with professional or personal experience in supportive roles such as Teaching Assistant, Social Worker, Youth Worker, or those who have cared for individuals with SEN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs

  • Support pupils with personal care, including toileting, feeding, mobility support, and other daily care needs

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering inclusive lessons and activities

  • Adapt learning strategies and resources to meet individual needs

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being, and resilience

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Social Worker, Youth Worker, Care Assistant, or in another supportive role

  • Personal experience supporting children or young people with SEN will also be considered

  • A proactive, compassionate, and resilient approach

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour effectively

  • Confidence in providing personal care support with dignity and sensitivity

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Care Certificate) are desirable but not essential

Benefits

  • Term-time working: Monday to Friday, no evenings or weekends

  • Ongoing CPD and specialist training opportunities

  • Dedicated support from a specialist education recruitment team

  • Opportunity to secure permanent contracts in schools

  • Competitive daily rate of £98 - £106 (subject to experience)

If you are passionate about supporting children with additional needs, and have the resilience and compassion to provide both learning and personal care support, we would love to hear from you!
