Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provisions
Location: Preston & Central Lancashire Area
Pay Rate: £106 - £110 per day (dependent on experience and travel)
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Do you have experience in care, support, or related sectors and want to take the next step into education?
We are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to work across specialist provisions in and around the Preston and Central Lancashire area. This role involves travelling to different schools as required, so applicants must either hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle, or be comfortable using public transport.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who may not have direct school experience but bring valuable skills and resilience from related backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to promote engagement, learning, and well-being.
Assist with classroom activities, personal care (if required), and behaviour management strategies.
Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Work as part of a supportive team alongside teachers and other professionals.
Candidate Requirements:
Must have experience in one of the following:
Care or Support Work
Healthcare Assistant / Personal Assistant
Military or Police Background
Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/SEMH
Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (UDS), or willingness to apply and pay for one.
Minimum of 24 month's employment references within the last 5 years, with no major gaps in employment.
Must provide valid Right to Work documents, in-date proof of address, and photo ID.
Resilient, adaptable, and able to work well under pressure.
A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
