Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference?

A specialist secondary SEN school in Bolton is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join their dedicated team. This role involves teaching pupils aged 11-19 with a wide range of complex needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), autism, sensory impairments, and medical needs.

The Role:

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs

• Use a range of strategies including sensory-based learning, Makaton, PECS, and assistive technology

• Lead a class with the support of experienced teaching assistants

• Work closely with therapists, SENCOs, and families to ensure a holistic approach to pupil development

• Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that supports both learning and personal development

Essential Requirements:

✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
✅ Previous experience teaching in a special school setting
✅ Proven experience working with pupils with complex needs and/or PMLD
✅ Strong knowledge of differentiated teaching approaches and communication strategies
✅ Excellent behaviour management, patience, and empathy

Desirable:

• Knowledge or experience of delivering a semi-formal or pre-formal curriculum

• Experience in using alternative communication methods (e.g. AAC, Makaton, PECS)

• Team Teach or similar behaviour management training
