Contract Duration: ASAP - February 2026
Hours: 11:30am - 1:30pm (Monday-Friday)
Pay Rate: £19 per hour
Location: Blackpool FY4
About the Role
We are seeking a caring, proactive, and reliable Welfare Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is essential in supporting the wellbeing, safety, and lunchtime experience of our pupils. The successful candidate will work as part of a friendly, supportive team dedicated to ensuring that children feel secure, listened to, and well looked after throughout the midday period.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality welfare support to pupils during the lunch period.
Assist with first aid, minor injuries, and general wellbeing needs.
Supervise pupils to ensure their safety at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
Support pupils with dietary or medical needs as required (following relevant training and guidance).
Promote positive behaviour and model respectful, inclusive interactions.
Maintain accurate welfare records and report concerns following school safeguarding procedures.
Work collaboratively with lunchtime supervisors, teachers, and school leadership.
Essential Requirements
Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate - must be current or willingness to update.
Health & Hygiene Certificate (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene or equivalent).
Experience working with children in a school or similar setting (desirable but not essential).
Warm, approachable manner and the ability to communicate effectively with children and staff.
Strong awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
