Science Technician (Part-Time / Variable Hours)
Secondary School - St Helens
We are seeking a reliable and organised Science Technician to support our Science department during a busy period of GCSE and coursework practicals.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a school environment and supporting practical learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting up equipment and materials for science practical lessons
Assisting during practicals, including supporting with weighing and preparation as required
Washing up equipment and ensuring laboratories are left clean, safe, and well-organised (students also support with this)
Supporting the teacher with ordering supplies and checking stock in the science store
General organisation and upkeep of practical resources
Hours:
Hours are variable and aligned with the timetable of practical lessons
Typical shifts may include:
9:00am-3:00pm
12:00pm-3:00pm
9:00am-12:00pm
11:00am-2:00pm
Some weeks will be busier than others, depending on when practicals are scheduled across subjects
If applicants have specific availability or days they are unavailable, this can be discussed at interview. There is flexibility, and shortlisted candidates may be invited in to meet with the teacher and discuss the role in more detail.
The Ideal Candidate:
Organised and practical-minded
Comfortable working in a school science environment
Able to follow health and safety procedures
Experience in a school or laboratory setting is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
