Job Title: Facilities Manager
Hours of Work: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 52 weeks (all year round)
Responsible to: Finance and Resources Manager
Line Management: 2 staff

Role Overview

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the strategic management of the school's estate, facilities contracts, and support services. They ensure compliance with statutory requirements, effective use of resources, and a safe, sustainable environment for students and staff. Day-to-day site operations are delegated to the Site Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on compliance with health and safety legislation, fire safety, and estate regulations.

  • Oversee the school's Asset Management Plan, estates strategy, and capital works.

  • Manage facilities-related contracts, procurement, and budgets in line with financial regulations.

  • Monitor energy usage, sustainability initiatives, and carbon reduction targets.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance, compliance audits, and risk management.

  • Align estate and facilities strategy with the School Improvement Plan to support learning and wellbeing.

  • Supervise and develop two staff, ensuring training and succession planning.

  • Provide oversight of catering operations, ensuring compliance with health, nutrition, and safety standards.

  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

  • Report on KPIs, compliance, and financial performance to governors and senior leadership.

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection responsibilities are embedded across facilities management.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).

  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, estates management, and facilities regulations.

  • Proven experience managing budgets, procurement, and contracts.

  • Leadership and staff management experience.

  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
