Job Title: School Cook (SEN School)
Location: Leyland, Lancashire
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm
temp to perm contract to start ASAP
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Cook to join our team at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Leyland. For many of our pupils, a school meal is more than just food-it's comfort, energy, and often the highlight of their day. This role is about more than cooking; it's about creating freshly prepared, nourishing meals that truly make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals from scratch for pupils and staff.
- Ensure all meals meet dietary requirements and allergen guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness at all times.
- Create a welcoming and supportive dining environment for children and staff.
- Manage stock, ordering, and kitchen organisation as required.
What We're Looking For
- A passion for cooking and providing meals with care.
- Previous experience working in a school kitchen or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of dietary requirements and allergen management.
- A warm, approachable, and professional manner.
- Up-to-date Food Hygiene Level 2+ and Allergen Awareness certificates.
