Job Title: School Cleaner
Location: Sunderland, SR4
Salary: £16.25 per hour
Hours: 3 hours daily, Monday to Friday (3pm-6pm)
Contract Type: Temporary, 15 hours per week, Term Time Only

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and dedicated Cleaner to join our friendly team at a Primary School in Sunderland. You will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily cleaning duties across classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets, and communal areas.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained to support the needs of our pupils.
  • Empty bins and dispose of waste safely and appropriately.
  • Clean floors, surfaces, and furniture using appropriate equipment and materials.
  • Replenish soap, hand towels, and other consumables as required.
  • Report any maintenance or health & safety concerns promptly.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a supportive team.

About You

  • Previous cleaning experience in a school or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of health & safety and safe use of cleaning materials.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for children with SEN.

Additional Information

  • This role is term-time only (no holiday working required).
  • All staff are required to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
  • Full training and equipment will be provided.
