Role: School Caretaker
Hours: 6am-9am, 4pm-6pm (split shift) Monday- Friday
Location: Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester
Salary: £18,000-£24,000 per annum
The School Caretaker plays a vital role in maintaining a warm, safe, and well-presented
environment across the school and associated office sites. Reporting directly to the Deputy
Heads and working in close coordination with the Facilities Manager, the postholder supports
the smooth, day-to-day operation and presentation of the premises for pupils, staff, and
visitors.
Core Responsibilities
* Support the Facilities Manager in ensuring efficient facilities management across the
school.
* Maintain a clean, secure, and welcoming site for authorised users and visitors.
* Carry out general maintenance and repairs in accordance with Health and Safety
legislation.
* Respond promptly to day-to-day facilities issues, ensuring a swift and safe resolution.
* Understand and apply key Health and Safety protocols (e.g. manual handling, working
at height, legionella control, fire safety).
* Undertake relevant Health and Safety training as provided.
* Perform other appropriate duties as directed by the Operations Director.
Day-to-Day Duties
Maintenance & Repairs
* Complete ongoing repair tasks and minor jobs (e.g. shelving, display boards, fittings).
* Support school functions through the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment.
* Supervise contractors onsite, as required.
* Maintain logs and records related to:
* Water safety management
* Pest control
* Waste management
* Energy usage and efficiency

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
