Temporary School Caretaker

Location: Macclesfield
Start Date: Week Commencing 13th July
Temporary Contract

We are looking for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a friendly school in Macclesfield on a temporary basis, providing cover for a long-term sickness absence.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.

Working Hours

  • Week Commencing 13th July: Handover and induction week
  • Summer Holidays: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 12:00pm
  • From 2nd September: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

The role is expected to continue until mid-October, although the end date may be extended depending on the duration of the sickness absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and securing the school site
  • Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
  • Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, safe and well maintained
  • Undertaking health and safety checks
  • Supporting contractors and site visitors
  • Moving furniture and setting up rooms for school activities
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous caretaker, site supervisor or facilities experience is desirable
  • Practical maintenance and DIY skills
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently
  • A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
