School Caretaker

Location: Wirral
Hours Available:

• Full Shifts: 7:00am - 4:00pm (Full Time & Part Time)

• Split Shifts: 7:00am - 10:00am & 2:00pm - 6:00pm (Part Time)

Contract: Ongoing / Temp to Perm opportunities available

We are recruiting experienced School Caretakers to work across schools in the Wirral. We have opportunities for both full shifts and split shifts, offering flexibility while maintaining consistent weekday work.

This role is ideal for someone with previous school or similar site experience who is confident managing site safety, security, and day-to-day maintenance in an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing school premises

• Carrying out reactive maintenance and basic repairs

• Conducting fire alarm testing and water temperature testing

• Completing daily health & safety and site checks

• Ensuring the school site is safe, secure, and well maintained at all times

• Liaising with school staff and contractors as required

• Reporting faults and maintaining compliance with health & safety regulations

Essential Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

• Previous experience as a school caretaker or in a very similar facilities/estates role

• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS check and register it on the DBS Update Service (unless already registered)

• Willingness to undergo full reference checks

• Strong knowledge of site safety, maintenance, and compliance procedures

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
