We are delighted to be partnering with a Local Authority to appoint a passionate and experienced Children's Home Registered Manager for The Oaks, a well-established 5 bedded children's home located in Stevenage.
The Oaks supports up to five young people aged 11-18 with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), offering placements to children with a wide range of needs.
As the Registered Manager, you will lead a stable and experienced team-including a Deputy Manager, three Senior Support Workers and nine Care Workers-ensuring that the physical, emotional, cultural and developmental needs of the young people are met every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and supervise the day-to-day running of a multi-bedded children's home
- Maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations, ensuring high-quality standards of care and safety
- Build positive relationships with children, staff, families, social workers and external agencies
- Recruit, interview, train and support staff to uphold a strong, cohesive team culture
- Manage rotas, staffing levels, budgets and resources effectively
- Submit and oversee Schedule 2 (SC2) registration forms
- Provide confident leadership during high-risk or challenging situations
- Ensure safeguarding practices are consistently upheld and the welfare of young people is prioritised
Requirements:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Previous Ofsted registration experience, including managing inspections
- Minimum 2 years' experience managing children's residential services
- Experience supporting Looked After Children (LAC)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Experience with rota planning and budget management
- Full UK driving licence
