Project Manager - Major Works
Location: London
Rate: £450 per day
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide interim support within a local authority Major Works team, maintaining delivery across a live housing capital programme during a period of restructuring.
This is a key continuity role. You will step into an established portfolio and ensure projects continue to move at pace, remain compliant and achieve value for money.
You will manage a portfolio of housing construction and refurbishment schemes from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery against programme, budget and quality expectations.
Responsibilities include
- Leading housing major works projects across the capital programme
- Managing contracts and providing strong commercial oversight
- Controlling budgets, programmes and risk registers
- Ensuring compliance with statutory, health and safety and contractual requirements
- Coordinating consultants, contractors, residents and internal stakeholders
- This is a delivery-focused role with no direct line management, but it requires confident coordination, stakeholder management and the ability to operate independently.
About You
- Proven track record delivering housing construction or refurbishment projects end to end
- Strong contract administration and commercial management skills
- Experience working in a housing capital works environment
- MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent professional membership (Desirable)
- PRINCE2, APM or similar project management qualification (Desirable)
- Technical background such as building surveying
- Experience within a local authority setting
This role would suit an established interim who can step in quickly, provide stability and maintain performance across a busy major works programme.
