My client in Greater London are looking to appoint a talented Principal FOI Officer on a Contract basis.
We're looking for a skilled Principal FOI Officer to lead the Council's approach to Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our interface with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
What's on offer:
- Salary: £28 per hour, Inside IR35
*negotiable based on experience

About the role:
Based in Greater London (Hybrid):
- Own the FOI/ICO relationship: oversee internal reviews, coordinate investigations, and represent the Council in regulator engagement
- Assure quality: review and sign off draft responses; provide robust advice on FOI, EIR and the Data Protection Act
- Champion transparency: lead actions to align with the Local Government Transparency Code and oversee internal/external audits and follow-up
- Collaborate widely: work across Legal, Governance, Digital, Data Protection and frontline services to ensure a coordinated information management approach
About you:
You will have the following experiences:
- Extensive experience in a similar role
- Proven experience handling FOIs, EIRs and ICO complaints, including internal reviews
- Strong coaching skills, able to motivate and guide services, set clear expectations, and give constructive feedback
- Local Authority experience is essential
