We're working with a local authority in the South London area seeking an experienced Personal Advisor to join their Leaving Care Team.
The successful candidate will provide dedicated, person-centred support to young people aged 18 to 25 who are transitioning from care into independent adulthood.
This role focuses on helping care leavers build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to manage key aspects of adult life - including housing, education, employment, finances, and emotional well being. The role is centred around developing and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with young people, offering guidance, advocacy, and practical support tailored to each individual's needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and guide care leavers through transition to adulthood.
- Coordinate and review Pathway Plans with young people and partner agencies.
- Help maintain suitable accommodation and access to education, training, and employment.
- Provide practical support around finances, tenancy, and well being.
- Advocate for young people and promote their independence and welfare.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people, ideally care leavers or those at risk.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation.
- Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Contract length: 3-6 months (with expectation of an ongoing extension)
Rate of Pay: £22-£30 per hour (Negotiable DOE).
Hours: Full time, 37 hours each week.
