Interim Clerk of Works (x2) - General Construction & Mechanical/Electrical
Location: Hampshire
Contract: 6-months minimum
Spencer Clarke Group are supporting our Local Authority client in Hampshire in recruiting two Interim Clerk of Works to join their Construction Project Delivery team.
These posts will play a key role in monitoring and inspecting construction work across major refurbishment and new build projects, ensuring quality, compliance and value for money.
The roles
- One position requires a general construction background (e.g. surveying, construction or trade-based route).
- One position requires a mechanical/electrical (M&E) background, with strong technical knowledge of building services.
Key responsibilities include
- Carrying out site inspections and monitoring contractors' performance.
- Ensuring compliance with specifications, drawings, legislation and Council standards.
- Producing accurate site records and inspection reports.
- Advising contractors on quality control and contract interpretation.
- Supporting the delivery of projects to time, cost and quality.
- Undertaking health and safety monitoring on site.
- Liaising with project managers, contract administrators and cost managers.
About you
- Significant experience of site inspection and monitoring within either construction or M&E services.
- HND in Construction, Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional membership (e.g. Institute of Clerks of Works, RICS, CIOB, CIBSE) desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction standards, health and safety legislation and British Standards.
- Own Vehicle (mileage paid)
