I'm working with a North East London Borough seeking an experienced Local Authority finance professional to support the production of a high-quality Statement of Accounts and help ensure publication by the statutory deadline.

This is a key interim assignment within Corporate / Financial Accounting during year-end and audit.


What's on Offer

The Role

  • Support or lead on production of the Statement of Accounts

  • Draft core statements (CIES, MiRS, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and supporting notes

  • Ensure compliance with the CIPFA Code of Practice

  • Prepare and improve audit-ready working papers

  • Liaise with external auditors and respond to queries

  • Support wider year-end close down activities

  • Assist with capital accounting and technical disclosures where required


About You

  • CIPFA / CCAB qualified (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong Local Authority statutory accounts experience

  • Proven year-end / close down delivery within councils

  • Confident drafting financial statements and technical notes

  • Experienced working under audit pressure and tight deadlines

  • Able to operate autonomously within a Corporate Finance / Financial Accounting team

The Role

The successful candidate will support the production and delivery of the Council's Statement of Accounts and associated year-end processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Confidence operating in a corporate finance / financial reporting environment

  • Ability to work autonomously and meet tight statutory deadlines
