Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer for a Local Authority Client in North London.
In this role, you will work directly with residents to prevent and relieve homelessness, providing practical support, guidance, and partnership-led solutions to help them secure safe and lasting housing.
Duties:
- Assess housing needs and deliver targeted homelessness prevention and relief interventions, including mediation, advice, and access to accommodation options.
- Provide trauma-informed, empathetic support to vulnerable residents, offering guidance on welfare benefits, income, and referrals to specialist services.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to coordinate support, secure housing solutions, and fulfil statutory responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate case records and uphold legal, safeguarding, and customer care standards, contributing to service performance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:
- Experience supporting vulnerable people in housing, health, or social care settings, particularly within diverse urban environments.
- Proven ability to provide practical housing advice and solutions to the public in statutory or voluntary sector services.
- Experience working empathetically and using trauma-informed approaches with individuals and families in crisis.
- Experience applying housing and homelessness legislation in casework or frontline service environments.
What's on offer:
Salary: £31
*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*
Contract type: 4-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension
Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
