Are you passionate about pastoral care, safeguarding and student wellbeing?
We are working with a secondary academy within Cumbria looking to appoint a Head of Year to play a pivotal role in supporting students' attendance, behaviour and personal development.
The Role
As Head of Year, you will:
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer, holding a child protection caseload
- Lead attendance procedures across your allocated year group, working closely with the Local Authority
- Develop and deliver targeted interventions to support students with attendance, behaviour and SEMH needs
- Work collaboratively with parents, staff and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, attendance panels and progress meetings
- Support assemblies, rewards events and year group activities such as options evenings and prom
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people in an educational, pastoral, welfare or youth work setting
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills with students, families and professionals
- Confidence working with safeguarding, attendance and behaviour systems
- Familiarity with SIMS and Microsoft Office (or willingness to learn)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
