Spencer Clarke Group have partnered with a well-regarded London Borough Council who are looking to appoint a Head of Legal to offer strategic guidance and lead on complex legal matters.
The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to senior officers and Members, leading a high-performing team that provides clear, pragmatic, and solution-driven legal advice on complex matters affecting the Council's People services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the People Division within Legal Services, ensuring efficient, high-quality delivery of legal support in Social Care (Adults and Children), Education, and Litigation.
- Provide strategic direction, professional supervision, and development opportunities to a team of experienced lawyers and legal officers.
- Oversee complex and high-profile cases, ensuring sound risk management and adherence to statutory and procedural frameworks.
About You
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX entitled to practice in England and Wales.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a large legal team, managing resources effectively and maintaining high standards of service.
- Financial and performance management experience, with a record of achieving targets and ensuring value for money.
