Head of Finance

A Local Authority in North West London is working with Spencer Clarke Group to appoint a talented Head of Finance on an interim basis.

What's on offer:

Day Rate: £700+ per day, inside IR35
Negotiable based on experience

Hours: 36 hours per week

About the role:

Based in North West London (Hybrid):

The Council is seeking an experienced interim Head of Finance to support senior leadership during a period of consolidation and change. The successful candidate will bring structure, stability, and improved oversight across the finance function.

You'll help strengthen financial governance, refine reporting and operational processes, and support leadership with clear, strategic financial advice.

Responsibilities:

• Provide senior leadership and oversight across the finance function.

• Strengthen financial controls, reporting disciplines, and operational effectiveness.

• Offer clear strategic support to senior leadership, including the Director of Finance.

• Build strong relationships with Directors, Members, and key stakeholders.

• Support ongoing financial improvement work and development of best practice.

• Contribute to process refinement and potential structural changes across the service.

About you:

You will have the following experience:

• Fully CCAB qualified (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).

• Significant senior local authority finance experience.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to bring calm, clarity, and structure.

• Experience delivering stability and improvement within finance services.

• Confident working at pace within an interim environment.
