English Teacher - Maternity Cover

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a Secondary School in Liverpool from January 2026 to cover a Maternity Cover until the end of the academic year.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students, foster a love of literature and language, and contribute to a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with curriculum requirements.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged.
• Support pupils in developing their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training, and whole-school activities.
• Contribute to the school's commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and student progress.

The Ideal Candidate

• A qualified teacher with QTS (or equivalent overseas qualification recognised in the UK).
• Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English language and literature.
• Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire pupils.
• A collaborative approach, working effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
