Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced and dedicated Education Lawyer on behalf of a well-respected London Borough Council.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), education governance, and public law issues, as well as conducting Tribunal work and supporting Judicial Review proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload of education and SEND matters, including Tribunal appeals and mediation.
- Provide legal advice to the Council, schools, and academies on all aspects of SEND law, including EHC plans, assessments, and statutory duties.
- Advise on education governance and regulatory issues, including school amalgamations, interventions, federations, and restructuring.
- Support and conduct Judicial Reviews, statutory appeals, and other complex education-related public law matters.
About You
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) authorised to practise in England and Wales.
- Proven experience conducting SEND Tribunal cases and advising on complex education law matters.
- Experience handling Judicial Reviews or high-profile education law cases.
- Experience within local government or a public sector environment (desirable).
